Serving with Cultural Intelligence

Throughout history, many attempts to serve cross culturally have ended in miscommunication and the destruction of local culture.  At Brentview, we recognize the importance to serve in a culturally sensitive way; we also recognize that we can’t know every detail about the places we want to serve.

Cultural Intelligence (CQ) is our approach to cross cultural service.  Cultural Intelligence teaches us the 5 major themes of cultural diversity and how to develop sensitivity and understanding with them.  CQ also encourages the cross cultural servant to learn how to find the relevant cultural topics to engage in, being both culturally sensitive and culturally intentional in service.
