“The help accessing food and prenatal classes was especially awesome but I also appreciated that I wasn’t made to feel less capable and confident because I was asking for help.”

Take home a baby bottle from the foyer and fill it with monetary donations, and bring it back to us!

You can also choose some items from the list below to donate.

Or, you can do both.

Brentwood Community Pantry

Brentwood Community Pantry is a mutual aid project aimed at addressing food equity in Calgary by helping those facing financial insecurity access free, fresh and healthy food 24/7.

WHAT

Food insecurity happens when people have scarce or limited access to food due to their financial situation. While all types of people are affected by food insecurity, the most impacted groups are; immigrants & refugees, Indigenous peoples, those living with disability, the LGBTQ+ community, people on social assistance and our homeless population.

Low income and high living costs create a disparity between what people need and what they can afford. AHS studies show that 1 in every 10 households in our province is food insecure.

We also accept donations of warm clothing items, and have found that items like diapers and feminine hygiene products are constantly and quickly cycling out of the pantry.

WHY

Access to fresh healthy food is reserved to those in position to financial privilege. We believe that this needs to change, and we want to give access to EVERYONE.

HOW

Continue to redirect food to the pantry! We are seeing growing numbers of students, women, and children stopping by week to week. We are accepting donations of grab and go snacks and non-perishable food at this time. Why not host a food drive for the Pantry and mention us to get a shout out on Instagram? @forcalgary
